DHS does...and while the president appoints the head of the DHS the department as a whole is accountable to congress.

Honestly, I think all of you have gotten so cynical to the point that you guys bash the only guy who can pull off CIR. While i agree, it sucks that some Dreamers and other illegals are getting deported but the truth of the matter is that the laws are on the book. While we didn't break them, the status quo stands and unless the laws are changed then there's no way the deportations can stop...he's the bloody president, not the emperor nor does he have a magical wand he can wave around and do as he wishes. Making a political promise and not being able to keep it because of external political happenings does not make the guy a liar or backstabber...

I think we have good chances of making something happen with the Obama administration; he's talked about immigration like no other president has in quite a few years. But the fact of the matter is that we also need to pressure. Obama won't do anything if he's not pressured. He's so into being friends and making everyone happy and that's just not possible. He either takes a stand on our favor or flat out says he's gonna let other people deal with it

We need to pressure! Call, email, fax, and most importantly don't feel defeated if we don't pass it. We've been through that quite a few times now and we should have some immunity.

You're going to be the only Dreamer here for that. Most likely you will be 80 years old by then. Good luck!

Wait, Bush deportations are how many in comparison to Obama's? I'm fed up w/the guy walking softly; it's time he pulled out the big stick.

You have a point on the deportations. What is also true is the fact that this country's political structure isn't at the extremes, it's in the middle. Those in the middle are not ignorant motherfckers like those on the extreme right and these numbers, while they are people, only serve to benefit us in the future.

the guy talks about the Staple act yet this is a bill that only benefits *legal* students...which would benefit no one in our situation. I just love how Fox News bashes those who don't "enforce" the laws yet loves to poke Obama on doing that. Truth is, we only have a handful of Republicans who are serious about reforming immigration, the rest are too busy pandering to the fucking tea baggers and are too concerned about their reelection...just like those blue dog democrats.
