Yep. This.

I get the whole "this is better than nothing" thing but some of us need to be citizens due to the careers we want to engage in. I want to join the military and eventually be a cop. The cut off age for most police departments is around 32. I'm currently 25 and if I can join the military after I get out of school when I'm 27, and if I can get my citizenship after 2 years of service, that would mean I would be 29 when I would be able to become a USC. That gives me little to no wiggle room to apply for a job as a cop before the cut off age...and I'm one of the lucky ones that would maybe be able to make it work, but what about the people who want to do the same thing but are older than me? There are alot of us that want to become police officers and firemen but won't be able to due to the long wait so keep that in mind guys saying "this is better than nothing."

Also they want peacemeal approach, that's a huge no-go since democrats won't give border security with no legalization, and republicans won't give legalization with no border security.

The conversation over immigration reform should be about making the bill better rather than going the other way around. I do find it hypocritical for a Cuban like Rep. Balart to advocate for "tight and strict" immigration reform when he supports the loosest immigration laws for his own countrymen.

Actually I'm not sure if this was a dream or if it really happened but there was an article about a Senator saying that something has to be done about Cuban Asylum since so many of them were travelling back to Cuba therefore it meant not many of them have a problem with Cuba....does this make sense? lol

Are they serious? 20 years?! .....

Hahahaha now this is something that just seems unrealistic imagine what the penalty fine will be. lol

I'd rather pay 20 grand for legalization than wait 20 years for green card.

You keep saying that you would be fine if CIR didn't pass. Well then, you must be well off and are an exception.

The rest of us have nothing (except DACA of course, which not all of us have currently) and need it ASAP so we can move on with our lives and forget the past. Just being able to travel isn't important. Some of us are actually EWIs and have nothing to improve our lives as opposed to the visa overstays who can get legalized through marriage, or even a lot of the people here who already have petitions pending.

I don't think I am exception, while a green card would make life a better, I think I have grown to adapt a life with out a status, so again, if this bill does not pass, I personally would not upset as much as SOME people.

Heck, I even have a thread about this
