In the long run I think this section can be struck down but beggars cant be choosers. Let's go on.
Meh don't really care about this. My parents and I always paid with the mindset we would never get a penny out of it.

Wasn't something in the senate bill that prevented this... I'm pretty sure there was something that talked about this. I think it said something about people with RPI could not fix their status by other means through this bill.

Or am I wrong?

WAIT, this is what I have been ranting against for the past 5 days, I am over 31 and started working at the age of 15, so I will have nearly 20 years of contributions CONFISCATED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. I started work in the mid 90's, so WHO the F**K proposed this, is what I want to know???? And why is the NPIC quiet about it, Univision is quiet about it, the NYTimes is quiet about it. If this had been proposed by a Republican, we would be hearing about it incessantly, which makes me believe that a f*****g Democrat probably threw this out there.

Also, apparently this confiscates the period from 2004 to present. So, do I get the contributions I EARNED from 1995-2003???? Also, even in 1995, as a student working part-time, my salary was in the early $30,000s, soooo I, as a single taxpayer with no dependents or property was taxed the full bracket for everything. And I have filed every single year my tax return. I am beyond incensed about this.

Apparently this is so they can forgive the tax evaders who haven't reported their income during their years living and working here illegally. So, in exchange, I have to forfeit MY earnings to pay for my fellow undocumented who have been irresponsible. I am going to have to log off now, I am at work and I feel like crying.

Uhmmm is just not your fellow undocumented people who have been irresponsible but everyone too. Think of paying ssn like a giant pool of money. The idea is that everyone pitchs in so when they reach 65 they get something out. Problem is not everyone pitchs in. But another issue is the baby boomers who retiring now. There isn't enough

The others are citizens; that's neither here not there.

This is about other fellow undocumented because it is an immigration reform bill. I know perfectly well how SS payouts work. I told you, I feel like crying.

So they aren't requiring to pay back taxes anymore, just start paying taxes?

Here's an article on back taxes, Back Taxes a Thorny Issue in Immigration Bill

The SS amendment may have been Sen. Hatch's doing, which was included in the odious border surge amendment.

Quote:
Hatch is a co-sponsor of the deal negotiated by Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and John Hoeven, R-N.D., because he said the bill needed tougher border-security provisions. But he also likes it because it includes two of his amendments dealing with newly legalized immigrants. One prohibits undocumented workers from counting past wages toward Social Security eligibility and the other prevents the government from providing welfare to immigrants until they become citizens.
But his back taxes amendment did not make it into the Corker Hoeven amendment.

Quote:
Hatch said it is a matter of fairness, but the primary backers say the back taxes amendment would be unwieldy and delay the legalization process.
