What evidence is accepted as proof of residence? I ve got us postal orders receipts for paying my rent and I also got utility bills. But if they re going to ask for pay stubs, I ve got nothing.

Btw, I remember that when Executive Action was discussed during the summer, it was a question mark whether there was going to be relief provided based on length of stay. Obviously, it's going to definitely suck hard for people close to the cut off.

Chances are, the proof of residence evidence will be similar to DACA. If you have anything with your name and address on it, that is proof. Bank statements are the best proof, IMO, because it shows activity with dates that indicate presence.

Because Amnesty was already given to those who had been here 30 years ago and more in 1986 and anybody claiming to have been here 44 years ago are obviously lying.

Idk man it's hard to believe you been illegal for what 30 years ? You have your reasons to why you haven't adjusted. But my point it's hard to believe that. If they asked for 20 you'd meet the bill.

But changing the subject. I can already see people coming in to the USA , expecting to somehow benefit from this. Or the right wing side I can see then too calling this a amnesty.

That being said I wonder if such EO will also be for 2 years

Believe me, time flies by. Came here in 1986 (A few months after amnesty) with weird circumstances of getting a screwed up plane ticket and/or getting off the plane at the wrong air port. To this day I'm not sure what the hell happened.

After a few days of being detained and our relatives here had a chance to get a lawyer and getting a hearing of some sort, we were paroled until an asylum hearing and it was determined that we were in fact not an EWI because we never technically entered the US and were detained and excluded from entering. . About 6 months later we had that hearing (well my mom did)...Hearing went pretty badly in part because my mom had to deal with an alcoholic family member the night before and was not in a good state of mind, in part because she was scared out of her mind, and also not prepared about anything that might be asked of her by the lawyer etc.

A year later we found out that it was denied and I think our appeal got denied a year later. By then we had been here around 3 years and the rest of our family was scattered across 3 countries so there was really nowhere to go back to. So the hope was to lay low and my other relative was going to become a citizen and adopt me and petition my mother. He became a citizen and did neither though in order to make us his dependents, he got us social security numbers while we were technically here legally which was the biggest gift he gave us. He thought "that's going to take a long time, what's the point?" The other relative did eventually petition (the alcoholic) my mom but we had lost a few years and by the time her priority date arrived, he backed out too.

By the time we moved to Texas it had been 9 years and all options were gone. Another one of my siblings eventually made it here legally and was really our only anchor but it would take more years for him to become a citizen and we were in survival mode. 9 years turned into 20 years and surely we thought there would be some laws changed..my younger sibiling got married and got her papers that way. My other sibiling petitioned my parents and myself. They were immediate family so that worked out for them, but I'm the last one standing.

I suppose I could have gotten married by now...or got some sort of employment sponsorship, but I gave up on that.

I think one priority that should definitely be included is lessening the extreme hardship barriers. Talk about keeping families, why should a USC spouse have to prove that they need their spouse here. It's ridicules that this arbitrary, subjective process is still in effect. If he provides relief this should be an area that shouldn't even be controversial. Spouses of USC should be able to legal in the states.

Wow, that's a crazy story!

I considered employment sponsorship as an option at one point, and i had employers willing to offer it to me no matter what it would take. But given the economic downturn in recent years, it turns out that the labor certification requirement is incredibly difficult to obtain for employers, so that idea was scrapped and went down the drain as well.
