Yes, more than Kelly. But, kelly had more decision making power as head of DHS. Kelly's shaky support of DACA was a threat. Wait and see to determine whether Kelly's removal was a loss. Maybe, the new appointee will be more supportive of DACA than Kelly.

No one who is a DACA supporter would take a job for this administration...

Next thing you know Arpaio will be the head of DHS.

I can probably guarantee this had nothing to do with DACA. Given everything else that's going on, DACA is a blip on their radar.

Rumor has it that Trump plucked Kelly from DHS to open the possibility of putting Sessions as the head of DHS. That will alllow Trump to appoint a new attorney general during the August recess so the attonery general can fire Muller. Trump can't outright fire Sessions. His racist base would go crazy therefore reappointing/demoting him to a position where can still implement his racist agenda makes the most sense.

Trump has an open investigation on him by the former director and a click of white collar crime prosecutors. Trust me, DACA is not one of his priority.

Sessions still has to go trough a confirmation hearing. Why would he accept a demotion? He has always wanted to be Attorney General. Sessions isn't leaving the AG unless he gets fired. No way he takes DHS job.

I do not think it is possible to appoint Sessions for DHS just like that...

There will be no appointment until next year for DHS then...

That makes this even weirder. Why would Trump who is supposed to be so strong on defense leave DHS without an appointed director for so long. And why would Kelly give up being the head of DHS to literally being Trump's assistant.

I don't get it
