Late 40's Dreamer (Holy Fucking shit I'm almost 50 and still dealing with this), aged out of original DACA and didn't have a chance to apply for extended DACA after Republicans killed it on the vine.

That's not really what it says there.. I think they worded it the worst possible way

"Ending new permits without scrapping the program altogether could be a compromise to buy time for Congress to provide alternative protection for the Dreamers, who registered after being told they would not be deported."

So we can't get new permits, it doesn't say we can't get new "applicants".

it is what it is, however, i am being cautiously optimistic in that is what is meant.

if i'm wrong, then mashallah, we'll see tuesday habibi.

Your work permit comes with your deferred action. If you don't have deferred action you won't be able to work.

He sentence that's confusing is "Ending new permits without scrapping the program altogether". There are 2 ways of understanding it. 1 new referring to any new documents at all, and scraping meaning stop all at once. 2, new referring to new ppl, scrapping meaning stop new comers. The language they used is not clear. I'm praying for the better option, but expecting the lesser I guess.
