Pelosi is stating that they asked USCIS for DACAer's who can renew their DACA after Trump's memo was issued to have a total of 3 months to renew instead of 1 month. Cited how it's difficult for some to collect the money required in a short period of time and natural disasters (she mentioned hurricanes and wildfires).

We are going to run out of time smh, we are basically down to 5 months now. 7 bills has been introduce already, enough with these political theater news conferences they hold every week. Time for some committee hearings. That's how you get the ball rolling, regular order!

Only issue is GOP decides what comes up on committee hearings, and the Senate still hasn't rescheduled the hearing that was cancelled the other week. I don't think regular order is going to work.

Imagine if his first major piece of legislation is the dream act.

From an operations and logistical point of view, was DACA logistically (forms, personnel to review cases at USCIS, etc.) set up when Obama announced it? If not how much time did it take from the time he officially announced it to the time they started receiving applications?

A big concern here is timing. If a bill does get approved, but takes weeks or months to get it logistically in place to the point where they would begin to receive applications, some of our EADs and DACA protections would lapse, no? I just hope the new system will automatically absorb anyone who's DACA is valid at the time the new legislation is signed. Applications and other background checks can then come after that. Wishful thinking?

It's wishful thinking. There will likely be a lapse unless USCIS gives extensions (by force of congress).
