A more liberal dream act is needed to counter all of the conservative proposals. What is the point of a shutdown if the only thing you are applying for is leverage...leverage for what? A more fair and better consensus on dream act!

a clean Dream Act bill wont pass and wont even make it to the floor.

but other options are very likely,

1) amendment/provision via omnibus
2) da + border sec compromise

we shouldnt box oourselves in and go all in on one strategy, there are other ways.

but then again in the end, we have no legislative influence and advocacy groups have no say in parliamentary procedures. ill take whatever they come up with and how they pass it is irrelevant to me.

Nope. No way in hell in a clean bill can pass. GOP will want a border security provision. No buts or ifs. You are beyond optimistic.

dude thats fine, they already passed the McCaul border security bill and 1.6mil for the border wall in the house anyway

then the democrats can get dream act, chip, and cost sharing reduction payments.

they’ll prolly come up with a compromise last minute to avert the shutdown anyway even if its a half assed relief.

Where are the NYTimes and WaPost counterparts to this article? I want to consider my sources.

False choice: it's not either or; every Democratic vote on this budget bill will affect every single childhood arrival, thousands of TPS recipients who are childhood arrivals, and the children rotting away in detention centers right now. It's about helping as many as possible with the same vote. That is the leverage.
Kudos to my home state of WA progressive caucus for holding the line; especially Rep. Jayapal!!
Kudos to Sens. Murray and Cantwell for standing up for Americans and their right to health care and safety; for a clean environment, and for feedom of information, speech, and a free press by fighting for net neutrality.

Nope. A 'clean' Dream Act is THE Dream Act, as is, waiting right now in Congress.

Daca was a half-assed effort with arbitrary and discriminatory age limits.

This moment has been 17 years in the making. Dream Act now.

Where are the votes for a clean Dream Act? If by luck a clean bill passes through Congress, Trump is not going to sign it. He wants something in return--plain and simple. This is not Burger King; we can't have it our way.
