Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), ranking member of the committee, cast doubt this week on Congress reaching an agreement at all. Differences between Republicans and Democrats on defense and nondefense spending remain with no politically palpable solution in sight, he said.

“This discussion has not progressed an inch in nine months,” he told reporters at a breakfast roundtable. “There is no solution. Ok? Every single option that’s on the table is politically impossible. And nobody wants to vote for it.”

He predicted a 24-hour shutdown next week.

“I would imagine what’s going to happen is that we’re going to run into that brick wall that I just described and the government will shut down for about 24 hours until we go, ‘Well, shit, that’s not popular either,’” Smith said.

“And then I don’t know because there’s a growing list of people who don’t even support a CR because they’re quite correct in saying that a CR is a horrific way to run the government," he continued.

"And by the way, of all the things that we do, it is the worst for national security.”

Non emergency issue? Is that their excuse ? I call it BS. Once in the back burner nothing will happen. It's now or never. Dems should not cave in now they have the upper hand in the situation. Deal with it once and for all.

Dear GOP Leadership

There is absolutely NO TRUST for us to believe you are interested in a true DACA fix. Your cowardly leadership of failing to bring up any Dreamer bill to the floor when the votes are there leads us to believe that you truly have no intentions of coming to a real fix. The time is now.

Republicans have always been more backwards and bigger pieces of shit than Democrats.

I think the ball right now is in the Dems court and if they are really willing to go all out on our side for our protection before the end of this month.

This is actually a possibility! People like McConnell can't be trusted with their words. Don't take him seriously. It's quite possible he is getting ready to make some concessions. He's probably just lying and misleading his radical base right now.

Him saying that's there's no rush to pass a DACA fix goes to show he doesnt care about helping us and neither will his party after December! DACA ending is an emergency that needs to be solved now! If something were to pass by March, by the time a fix is fully incorporated, a ton of people would have expired.

Surely one of his staffers must have a bit of logic and have relayed this to him. I hate him so much.
