For Durbin this is personal. Gotta love the man.

Bridge act in exchange for all of Tom Cotton's, Grassley, and Cornyn's wish list????

No. Noope. Dream Act is not hard. That they are going so extremely out of the way to exclude, block, and target as many immigrants as possible. This again excludes thousands of childhood arrivals who misssed the daca age cap on both ends, children and teenagers in detention, and TPS holders who qualify for the actual Dream Act.

These people will never work on Immigration reform. Republicans will be voted out of majority next year, so they only want $$$ for contractors and the for $ industrial complex. They have stood in the way pretending to be interested in a solution, but as Durbin said: they will never vote for an immigration bill because they never have.

He and other old farts better resign in shame if that's his position because it's basically "Here's what we want, and we have to fight for it because Trump canceled it, but we don't want to make a fuss, so we will put up some lip service and roll over like any other time, and then go 'whoops' when people start expiring".

The democratic party needs a whole lot of fresh blood. Also never forget that DACA magically happened after immigrant/latino groups basically said "Obama hasn't done shit, sit the election out". If it didn't come to the point where he was afraid of losing his election we'd still be in the same nonsense.

Exactly. We need to make our voices be heard. Indivisible and a lot of other organizations are already holding Dems to the fire. I understand a lot of people feel admiration for Durbin but if it was so personal for him he wouldn’t have even voted for the CR. What’s the point of putting our pictures and stories on the senate floor and then not really fighting for us? They need to stop campaigning on us.

I'd take a bridge act. You can't cover everyone under DREAM Act. The original DREAM Act itself already excludes thousands already plus everyone who just arrived past few years ago (same for DACA).

this probably the dumbest post i've seen on this site if i'm understanding you correctly.
so you would prefer the BRIDGE act which treats us as 2nd class people just so it includes recent arrivals, even though the main fear in pushing for any legislative action benefiting us is that it will encourage more people sending over little kids across the border?

Careful! The idealist fools on this forum are about to get on your case.

I think you mean you will take bridge act (rather than nothing - in other words going back to the shadows). And I agree, the Dream act in its current form is too liberal.

I guess you are not happy enough to understand sarcasm and the consistent disappointing news. So my last hope.

If these bastards would remove the travel restriction, whatever... :/ If folks read my signature they should know I would take conditional green card if that's the choice. I was just saying if nothing works but BRIDGE, well fuck me, let's go for it.
