what if... and just bear with me...

Republicans agree to handshake deal and don't do anything in 2018. Democrats know that they won't do it, but agree it to anyway. 2018 comes. nothing happens. Republicans campaign on how they stopped DACA. Democrats campaign on how hard they tried to work out a bipartisan deal and they just don't have the clout they need... americans need to vote more dems into office.

Then Repubs would win as they actually did something while the Dems just tired and failed.

Alright someone explain to me here, we have the debt ceiling problem, how the hell are they just rolling the ball with short term CRs? How long are they able to do that? Will we just see two week funding bills until Trump is out of the office?

Trump wins the presidency, Schumer gets party leader role and fucks it up, a Democrat wins senate in Alabama.

ALRIGHT WHO THE FUCK IS PLAYING JUMANJI?

Pretty much March. As I understand, the Treasury can't issue any more T-bills, bonds, etc right now. So unless there are massive cuts to spending, congress has the debt ceiling in the spring. Also, if that tax bill passes, it's gonna add another trillion to the debt, due to lost tax revenue.

The CR is different than the debt ceiling and deals with how the government is allowed to spend money.

Right now Treasury is paying for stuff by just shifting money around and deferring payments on money that is owed.
