1) That's not how negotiations work. Its give and take, not take the 1st damn offer they make.
So let's keep pressuring for a bipartisan solution with minimum concessions. Especially concessions that have little impact on those already in the US (ie. border security & ending DV Lottery)

2) Statistically only half of us actually qualify to marry a USC and then adjust status (those with that EWI have a longer more difficult consular process)

3) It took us 11 years just to get DACA (if we start counting from when DA was 1st introduced in 2001). Lets see how many parents of USC or DREAMers have been deported in that time. Now I'm not saying it isn't important to change politics with votes, of course it is both national and local elections. But let's be honest with ourselves and our community. If they end chain migration it'll be several YEARS before sponsoring a parent becomes possible again or some other relief for our parents is made into law.
I'm all for a compromise but let's be smart about actually attempting to negotiate away those provisions such us e-verify, interior enforcement, or ability for any USC to petition their parent.

And one thing that personally frustrates me is people trying to make it seems like these provisions are "no big deal". Lets not try to minimize the impact it will have on the immigrant community, just because we are excited about the possibility of a green card. Interior enforcement will for sure affect the undocumented people, including those with 0 criminal record. E-verify will very likely make it that much harder for undocumented immigrants to find sustainable employment to support themselves and their families. And the ending of "chain migration" means every USC that finally turns 21 or finally is able to naturalize will no longer be able to protect their parents, and thus guarantee family unity. If we want to include ending chain migration in these negotiations, that's fine to each their own morals and beliefs but you need to be able to accept all aspects of it. Including the fact that it IS VERY impacting to hundreds of thousands of people who will no longer be eligible.

Todd Schulte - FWD.us:

LIVE: Tune in to hear our President, Todd Schulte, from Washington, DC for an update on the work being done to pass legislation by January 19th to #protectDreamers

https://www.facebook.com/fwdus/videos/1197060190423893/

-Todd is optimistic. He says most understand compromise will come with border security. Press democrats and republicans to compromise and get it done by Jan. 19th.

@tedhesson
.@FWD_us plans a "fly in" next week where more than 100 DACA recipients will meet with members of Congress to push for a solution. Story on @POLITICOPro:
