This is so disappointing. This Congress isn’t doing a damn thing and time just keeps running. The way this is going time will run out and who am I to say or speculate, but most likely we’ll end up with some three year extension plan. Better this then nothing, but it really is time for a permanent fix. I’ve never gotten involved, but I think it’s time to fight.

This might be an opportunity for a compromise. He seems eager to achieve his goal.

Do you guys think it would benefit our cause if the freedom caucus shuts down the government this time?

I would think so. Paul Ryan would then have to side with Dems and meet their demands to re-open.

They wont, Meadows is the little boy who cried wolf. He and the freedom caucus are ideological when they can afford to be and will vote for a CR again if they are told to.

And Democrats aren't on the no DACA, no deal train anymore and will probably vote for a CR. Ryan may just tell the freedom caucus to go kick rocks this time.

wait so, what is stopping them from passing the omnibus now? why are they planning on passing another CR when they probably will have the votes to pass the full budget?

Democrats seem to be holding out on discussing/passing a full spending bill until DACA is resolved, but they're not going to withhold votes on a CR to shut the government down.

I know it sounds stupid, but Democrats don't have the stomach to shut it down and I don't think doing so would endear us to the public either.

But not moving forward on a full funding bill keeps Republicans at the table because a lot of them want more money for defense.
