So we are allowed to apply from the US? The article made it sound like we couldn’t. Also for those of you who got accepted and are sitting on it, how long can you delay it before they cancel it for you

Yes, if you have DACA you can apply from the US. The work experience that you get points for has to be legal i.e. you'll have to send copies of your EAD cards along with other docs. The actual process takes around 4 to 6 months but getting preliminary documents ready could take a while. The visa is valid for a year from the date you do your medical exam.

7.5 or above on reading, writing and speaking is good. You need at least an 8 on listening for high overall score for express entry.

Montreal is a good choice especially for me since i'm from NY. Not too far away from my family. Just a 1.25 hour flight. Oh yeah and Montreal is beautiful. Much prettier than Toronto.

Agree. It fluctuates so you may need to wait a couple weeks/months in the pool but no harm trying.

It also determines on time of year you apply. The minimum points go up in May/June when all the college graduates enter the labor market and the need for immigrants goes down. Check out the canadavisablog and forum by Michael Cohen where people share their experiences.

Call up a few lawyers for free phone consults to understand your options. But it's easy to apply by yourself. The lawyers charge an arm and a leg - way more than US lawyers because the entire world is looking to immigrate there. But EE thru Daca IS possible guys!

Yes, I would suggest studying because even if your English in excellent, if you are not familiar with format of this test you can lose many points easily.

I can speak French at an intermediate level. I wonder if that would help me out. I would elect British Colombia though, which is the predominately English speaking part of Canada. I also know the national anthem by heart in both languages.

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux.
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix.
Ton histoire est une épopée,
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
