lol @ singling out gerrymandering when there's a handful of states during elections that can literally be called with less than 5% of votes in because of how only a small portion of a state matters.

I like how giving extra voting power to corn fields is business as usual in this country.

If Senate passes bipartisan bill that includes border security funding for wall/barrier and legal status for DACA and TPS recipients, would @SpeakerPelosi allow the bill to be taken up in the House?

If the answer is no, then it is the Pelosi Shutdown.

"I think a deal where there's at least temporary working permits for Dreamers for several years, that kind of a relationship if you're not going to solve the Dreamer problem for us, some amount of money for border security is an easy deal to make," Yarmuth said.

LMAO what a fucking joke. The GOP always wants everything in exchange for nothing. What is their obsession with keeping us in limbo with only temporary relief. Green cards or fuck your ugly ass wall.

Green cards are overrated.

Codify DACA + AP into law - that is a great start - permanent residency will come naturally.

Or they could use us as a way to keep funding social security without ever giving us access to those funds when we retire

I can fuck with that. My boys who go laid off with me back in October, they are in no hurry to find a job since they are on unemployment, whereas my ass had to find a job to stay afloat. Hey, I’m down to pay their unemployment to reduce the competition. Those that turn their disadvantages into advantages are those that come out strong, those that bitch, complain, and resort to the victim mentality are doomed.

We already have access, Social Security Act only requires you to have a number, put 40 quarters of work in, and have employment authorization at some point in your life.

People who have been here for years who finally decide to throw the towel would file for asylum to get a work permit and therefore a SSN, then they amend their taxes with the new number for the past 10 years (thereby satisfying the 40 quarters requirement), and they fuck off and collect social security retirement via the consulate abroad.
