Let me expand that a little further...Could not get anything done (for us), but he got plenty done for himself (basically convinced his supporters and you can even argue a lot of other people that Democrats shut down the country for "illegals"). Also, he's been getting tons of $$ for the fencing through the continuing resolutions (he calls the fence "the wall").

The biggest mistakes democrats could make would be to work w/the GOP on ANYTHING if they have control of both houses

That's the problem. "Convinced his supporters" that the reinforced fencing is his promised wall. We arent his base, and we all know that isn't his wall. He didn't fix or reform anything on DACA with a shut down. So where is this idea of a higher likelihood coming from? All that shutdown got him was some money for reinforcing existing fencing that other presidents erected. His shutdown didnt force democrats into agreeing to anything on daca.

Anytime Trump introduces an immigration bill it is a lopsided piece of crap full of toxic provisions , such as more money for raids. Democrats will not agree to that. The wall alone hurts a lot of property owners at the border. Not good either, and Democrats justifiably refuse to come to the table.

Don't forget a few years ago bipartisan Senate passed a liberal/moderate comprehensive immigration reform bill, which the house Republicans refused to address, insisting on a piecemeal approach. The GOP has always given the piecemeal approach to reject CIR. Ironically, Reagan signed a comprehensive bill in 1986, so what is the problem?

Democrats won't have a super majority 60 votes in the senate. They will have to work with the GOP unless those moderate GOP legislators are ok with a stand alone dream act bill.

Assuming Democrats adopt nuclear option. Do you think that is likely?

Standalone, depends on how big is the majority but I can imagine it could pass. Biggest problems are Manchin (D-WV) and Tester (D-MT) two DINO hacks that probably wouldn't vote for it. On the flip side there's Murkowski (R-AK). It probably would squeeze through in a 51-50 vote.

As a part of CIR, yeah it'd pass.

This is why i believe a solid 60 Dem seats + 5 or so to be safe will be required. The Blue Dog Dems will not be voting with the rest of the Dems most likey aka the likes of Tester and Manchin. Simple majority in house is okay I believe. This is the winning combination. If this is not accomplished in the election, I believe we will settle with DACA in place for good.
