This will give democrats that are on the fence cover.

If the party decides it’s going to scrap it they have to at least try to look like they are trying to be bipartisan and the republicans left them no choice.

Art of the deal. Am I right?

Eye candy for Being, John, and 2Face below. Try not to moan too hard, guys.
I don't know about that. It's kind of a big fuck you to all the people that worked so hard to get the movement to this point. I'll admit, I'm more of a free rider on the benefits obtained by the people who protested and lobby for Dreamer and DACA policies. I have never been out there openly supporting DACA beneficial policies. So how can I support a DACA only policy know that it would fuck over all the other people who put in real effort. I would like to see CIR be done but I know that's not possible in this environment. But a DA bill is definitely probable, why would we want to support a bill that cuts out even more of our own.

I have few people asked me this, figured to post this here.

If this passes and you happen to have Final Order of Removal, or were permitted to depart voluntarily but still in US without breaking court order, you will be able to file for Green Card and if granted final order will be removed. Typically Final Order disqualifies people from adjusting status. But here you will NOT need to file motion to reopen, reconsider, or vacate the order of removal to file for the Adjustment of status. So this is nice.

Sadly this passed houses a couple of times, but never the senate. Let's hope 10 republicans jump on board this time. We shall see.

I agree.

However, Republicans want the minimal number of people getting legalized. Let's face it... if it comes down to only the current DACA population getting relief, we are all going to apply.

It is not right for Republicans to prevent just and sensible reform to to pass (i.e. reform for all Dreamers) and we should all support the Dream Act or equivalent. Hell, we should all support smart and fair CIR. However, the grander the bill, the less chance of it passing and you all know that.

Initial asks will start big and will eventually be chipped away at... again mainly due to R's that refuse to do what is right and fair. People under the spell of R's will say "that's not what they are elected to do", but cannot see it simply. R's will not do what is right and fair, all politics aside.

Also... imagine if Georgia would not have happened and the Senate still had a R majority. LOOOOL

Thank you hard working Dems like Stacey Abrams who fought and as a result of the outcome, we have a fighting chance.

Fuck republicans. It should not be so hard to get the measly 10 votes we need, but it will be. And that says so much about that fucking party.

And McConnell is saying there will be scorched earth if dems get rid of the filibuster. He needs to sit his old, crusty mummy ass down and dems really gotta step up now more than ever.

Yeah, at least this bill will reach the floor of senate. If they vote "no" on it so be it but we get to know who voted "no" and hope they get replaced in the future.

Can someone please explain why this needs 60 votes in the Senate and not 50 + Kamala?

IN A NUTSHELL: If legislation does not get 60 or more votes, it can be filibustered to death if it was introduced in a typical manner and not paired with any other legislation that is treated differently.

I believe only budgetary bills can go nuclear if I am not mistaken? that's why everyone had hoped for this to be tied to the covid bill.
