Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, however, said that while the short-term goal was the DREAM Act, the ultimate goal is much broader, but that would wait for the next Senate.

"We have a population that is not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to," Schumer said. "The only way we're going to have a great future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants, the dreamers and all of them, because our ultimate goal is to help the dreamers, but get a path to citizenship for all 11 million or however many undocumented there are here. And we will be pursuing that in the next Senate.

"Right now, our focus is on dreamers."

While the scope of the proposal under discussion appears to be limited to the DACA program, some House Democrats are already pushing party leaders to go broader.

it was good while it lasted, we are fked still.

Democrats lose control of the house in January & Dem leadership is changing. They'll settle for something than nothing because the current leadership would probably want to end things off on a good note (If you remember, pelosi gave a long speech in the house about dreamers). The time for the current leadership to play politics is over, this is probably as real as someone is going to get. It's like voting for a bills knowing you're not being re-elected. Most people will vote how they actually feel / want. I'd be surprised to see if something pass the senate and dies in the house.
