We should be very happy that we are at least part of the conversation. There are a lot of people who envy our position and wish they were even talked about to begin with. I think whats likely to happen is they will ask for total border security first and then they're going to do legalization of whoever they can get the voters to approve.

I think the current immediate need is that they are going to do reconciliation to get some major border security legislation passed first because theres no point in removing people with an open border.

Read my post again:
I'd rather have peace of mind the next 2 years knowing I might not get caught up in mass deportations or be racially profiled while working on my Plan B than feeling fear or uneasiness going about my life (like a lot of us on this forum clearly are) now that the deportations are happening.

Furthermore, if you believe that Democrats will not allow Trump to achieve a victory on immigration relief for us, then it is evident that we are being used as pawns by them. They introduced the Dream Act in 2000, and 25 years later, we are still waiting for a resolution. If that doesn't say anything, I don't know what else will.
I've always said Congress (Ds and Rs are useless). Do not have faith in any of them to come to our rescue. Work on your plan B. Stop hoping they will save you.

Also weren't you going to post less here and just check in every so often since the forum is dead? Sending you POTUS blessings. <3

Biden and Harris didn't even mention us until the end of their term when they needed the Latino vote.

It feels different to me because Dems want stricter border security and asylum reform so "Open Borders" can not be used against them in the next election. The 2023 bill showed they want more enforcement. This is more for their self-interest rather than ours and both parties want immigration to change

....This could also be in my head since we were out in the cold for the past 4 -6 years

Border security has always been a major sticking point as they don't want a repeat of the dreamer population. Even the mega amnesty of the 80s was built upon total control of the border. Of course, that failed and the problem grew.

And seeing how much control Trump has exerted over the border in just two weeks makes me seriously doubt that democrats were truly genuinely interested in solving the issue. No wonder Schumer didn't want us to take the whole stage, because he knew it was just a waste of time to bring anything up. DA bill should've been tied to border security. Anything less is a waste of time. Staple that big win to anything and it would've passed easily.

It is clear that under Biden and Harris, there would have been no difference in the handling of immigration issues and separating families. Leaked memos have revealed that Biden and Harris were actually expanding immigration detention capacity in multiple states since September 2024.

This contradicts the narrative that Democrats were attacking President-elect Trump for his deportation plans, as they were preparing for their own expanded detention of immigrants. It is important to acknowledge that this type of hypocrisy only gave President Trump a head start to launch the largest mass deportation effort in U.S. history. Just like with Obama, who was the first President to put kids in cages, it is evident that under Biden and Harris, the situation would have remained the same.

At this point, I have no expectations. However, I am hopeful that we can make progress. I have highlighted the positive comments made by President Trump regarding DACA and being open to negotiating a deal. We had not received any clarity from the Biden/Harris administration in their first 4 years, so it is important to be proactive in finding solutions, and for the record I have a plan B.

I have plan B and plan C but plan A for America is for us to have big wins. 99% of Republicans quit trying to solve the immigration issue before they win big.
