I herd the Senator Hutchison is considering to run for Governor in Texas. She would really be careful not to upset the Hispanic voters.

all this convincing the dumb senators is like telling sum radical republicans that Obama is not a terrorist.

everyone else on the list that are labeled "on the fence" they all voted against the dream act, and almost all the senators labeled "unknown" they voted against the dream act as well...

i don't know why we have sum senators that voted NO; on the "on the fence" and on the "unknown" category...

to me, a realistic number is 56 YES...

any realistic thoughts?

Just because Senators voted No last time doesn't mean they will again this time. For example, some who voted no have been safely re-elected and are free to change their minds. Plus, don't underestimate the President's ability to persuade especially to members of his own party.

The people on the Yes column and No column have positions one way or the other and the people on the "Others" list are in play.

thnx for ur clarification, it seems that certain senators vote NO on dream act b/c of pure politics and they dont want people in their state to rebel against them... but do we have any realistic chance of passing dream?

C'mon, guys. We all know it's going to be introduced on April 1 -- when someone here will undoubtedly start a thread called, "DREAM Act Introduced." I can't wait!

Hi this is great news, I know that a lot of bills can be introduced in congress, but it is a start! We need something to begin creating momentum so that his bill passes the sub committees and committees and hopefully reach the house and senate floor. Anything is better than nothing!

I'm glad to hear that some members are starting to even talk about the DREAM Act

Are you speaking through your own pure assumptions or have you taken the time to actually do research on all of these topics you seem clueless about?

i have done tons of research, I've researched every senator one by one and saw opinions they wrote, their voting records and how they stand with the people that voted them into office...

i want this as much as anyone here does... the reason i wrote such questions is b/c i want everyone to be clear in a realistic way on how to make this work...

my conclusion through all this research is that some senators are afraid to speak out on what they really think, afraid that they wont get re-elected.
take Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand (D-NY) for example.. she has been against immigration reform until the Hispanic Caucus told her that "if she doesn't get her acts together, she can forget about getting re-elected.

so no, im not new at this at all... thank you CIR_DREAM2009 for ur responses.

Mind posting few links out of your " tons of researches" . Most of us here (if not all) are ( or have been) attending top notch schools, so we are educated to only accept something only when the evidences are right before us. Like if i wrote an essay and just said " Based on my tons of researches" without actually showing where I got them from, I would probably not get any grade higher than D.

“my conclusion through all this research is that some senators are afraid to speak out on what they really think" is also a general phrase. You can say senator X cares only for election then provide evidence for that senator X, but can’t really state it the way you did ( well you could but then most people would probably ignore it due to lack of evidence).

there is also a difference between being realistic and pessimistic. In reality some senators are for and some against dream act. It is up to us and our supporters to inform them about the benefits of dream act and persuade them otherwise.

So if you dont have any evidence to back your statements then please dont state as if it is a fact. Just say " In my opinion" or something like that.

Yes. Very good chance. Many people are supporting us. Just do some more of that research you do and you can see how many thousands of different organizations, churches, ... are supporting us. Did I mention the President of USA is behind us too? Even if the odds were against us (which is not), doesn’t mean we should give up. Because we will never give up until dream act is passed. Giving up is not an option. Not only just because we need dream act to further show our love of our country USA and use our talents to devote ourselves to it but by giving up we would be letting down all of those people who believed in us and supported us for many years and still fighting for Dream act right beside us. Hope this answers your question.
