A little bit about our case, we are a same sex couple. I was previously married to a man back in 2011 and an I130 was filed back then. We separated before our I130 was even approved so nothing was ever done about that case. Although we had been separated for years and we had both moved on with our lives, we hadn’t gotten around to get divorced. Our divorce was finalized in February of 2017. My wife and I had been living together and had an established relationship since 2013, I am lucky to have her and grateful she understood the situation for what it was. Anywayyy, fast forward to the good stuff, we got married in August of 2017. While our case was still being processed we filed taxes for the first time together, went on 4 trips, we got a dog, added each other to our life insurance policies, and made sure all our bills were under both of our names, and we also moved within the same city. So that took up most of our evidence that we presented today. Our appt was in Phx, it was scheduled for 9:05am but we didn’t get called in until about 9:45ish. The officer was very to the point with everything. He seemed very experienced. He was looking through all our paperwork while asking us questions. He did start off by saying-not asking- That I clearly am now with a woman and I was with a man before, he didn’t dig too much into that like I thought he was! I gave a very simple answer about how I dated woman after my ex and that was that. Most of the interview he kept asking us about dates and anniversaries and who proposed to who and how we met. In the beginning of our relationship we were a little bit long distance so he wanted to know more about how we ended up living in the same city. After we explained how we met and how we got engaged he said my application would be approved. He then went on to flip through our paperwork some more and asked about our new address. He did make me take my biometrics again, while in the office with him. He had a little camera and a finger scanning device. He was not too nice but wasn’t rude either. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. My wife and I are both so happy and relieved!

Yay congratulations!!!!

From what I’ve read, the USCIS is not funded by the govt. funds affected by the shutdown... it is funded by the fees collected from the applicants... “fee-funded” I believe it’s called... the delay depends on the backlog of the field office.

Hey congrats!!! I’m glad I came back to this forum to read your good news! I remember from posts like almost a year ago that you were waiting for your interview! I haven’t been on this forum for a while.. mainly because it didn’t have as much info as immi help... Your approval gives me hope yet! My FO is probably the slowest in the system (SF, CA) so I think I have a year to wait, at the least, unfortunately. But congrats again!!

I received my green card today. Thank god. Long journey but all worth it. We weren’t in no rush. And because of it I got approved for a 10 year card. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting or who will get to it.
