This idea was surely Republican because Republicans do not want to "reward" us--even us, the blameless ones--with access to the current system; they fear that their consituencies will label this bill amnesty and oppose it. Hence, we have a "unique" path; we have RPI, permanent residency, and then citizenship.

I am very sure Dream Act will be amended concerning the initial status issue.

RPI either counts towards Naturalization for all or the courts would have to step in and say it does if this passes as is.

yeah it still goes against the Constitution but obviously we are no experts here unless the bill has somewhere inside that prevents that clause form affecting this bill

It does. Who is willing to challenge it? All of us will be too busy celerbrating this when it passes. . . at least I think we will.

All of this stuff can potentially change over the months. Pro-immigration organizations are already complaining about this pathway. So, things can change.

Maybe we can sue right after the bill becomes law and have the courts judge the whole Dreamer RPI vs. other undocumented RPI violation like Ianus said earlier.

"Are illegals fighting among themselves now?" type of hype

I was thinking it might help the other undocumented RPI by matching Dreamer RPI. So maybe the courts can rule that undocumented RPI can apply for citizenship after their 10 or 13 years like what Dreamer RPI's get after 5 years.

I don't think other undocumented RPI can even apply for anything since they have to go through family, employment, or merit based visas since they don't get their own line. A favorable ruling can change that.

It takes 10 years for RPIs to become eligible for merit based visas even if you are skilled as fuck. Those POS really want to make us suffer.

if the bill allows for this

I don't see anywhere in the bill that would allow this
