It is actually possible for an undocumented student to pay/cover that kind of money.

As for graduate school, I start this fall. I won a scholarship that covers my first year. Plus, I have the CA Dream Act to help me out a little.
I'm happy for you.

I wish I at least would have an expired SSN, then I'd have something to work with.

Indeed, an expired SSN would have given you something work with. But, would it? Most places use e-verify now or are very careful/meticulous in checking for certain documents. For example, let's say you had an expired SSN, but an employer also asked you for a driver's license. You'd be screwed either way.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't look down upon you for not finishing college yet. I completely understand that getting a job and paying for school now is fucking tough. Hang in there.

Fucking relief . . .

Once visa expires, then SSN expires as well. At least, what I have been told.

There are so many things I should have been told about...I can't even complain/go to court, because you need a SSN to go to court!!! =o

My situation along with many other things adds up to be mental torture. Please don't give me a hard time about what I just said. IMO, this is torture. I wish I could sue this country.

I think it "expires" in a de facto manner. If you do not want the government to find out where you are or to create leads that could result in your arrest, you do not use the SSN. My uncle stopped using his SSN.

The SSNs that "expire" simply expire on the basis of the application they were attached to. They in no way get removed from the system, and assigned to someone else. They, and you yourself, need to be able to track your taxes for as long as you live.

What kind of SSN do not expire? The thing is that once you get legal status from overstay then your SSN stays the same.
