moby says hi and introduced himself.

Sorrybrah says "wtf just happened?"

ManIamHappy stated that he pays more taxes than 95% of poverty dreamers.

Dtrt09 asked to elaborate

ManIamHappy stated that Dtrt09 only makes 35k a year

Dtrt09 objected.

Just when I was scrolling up to fill myself in on the drama, thx brah. And this ManIamHappy guy seems like he's talking out of his rear. How does he think those Dreamers like himself came in here in the first place? And secondly his argument is very similar to that of conservatives, "They will take all our jobs!" What about the contributions they'll make in improving this economy, generating revenues by spending more since they'll have a proper jobs, creating new tax revenue streams etc etc? When you start making arguments, you need to look at shit from all angles instead of possessing a skewed position. I'm praying to God Obama's upcoming executive measures provide work permits for EVERYONE undocumented here for over 5-7 years and have clear backgrounds. Plus what is an illegal himself arguing about other illegals taking "his" job. Disgusting.

On the other hand if you hand out work permits to everyone and their mother, it'll be a big issue of well, do we really want 11 million law breakers competing with us for jobs PERMANETLY? and effecting the outcome of elections?

It's much easier for Americans to accept legalizing 500k-1mill Americanized childhood arrivals rather than 11 million competing with them.. Just my 2 cent.. Id love for everyone to be legalized, I just see it hurting us more than helping us..
For the most part, those individuals that want to deport us could care less if you were brought here at no fault of your own. If they did have that type of compassion, or tolerance that you speak of, then the dream act would have already passed. So, those people that don't want immigration reform are not going to change their minds whether the president issues an EO or not.

Now regarding the job competition, please... I hope you don't believe that. The majority of undocumented immigrants only compete with about 10% of the labor force and it is for the lowest paying jobs. If anything, DACA beneficiaries are the ones that truly compete for good jobs. But even then, there is such a shortage of high skill in this country that DACA beneficiaries should be welcomed. Truth be told, the same thing is true of the rest of the undocumented population, we are a complement to the US's economy (the US has a shortage of the type of unskilled labor provided by undocumented immigrants). Not to mention that we are already part of the economy and the economy is practically in full employment at the moment. So yea... the economy likes us and needs us. I can talk more about the "need" part if you want, but it has a lot to do with the demographic shift of the nation.

I think the best way forward is to stick together and defend each other. I'm glad DACA beneficiaries are able to work now, even if I didn't benefit from it. I hope they will also continue to show support for people in my situation. Anyways, together we are stronger.

Responding to your first point; I am well aware of the ignorant hicks, you can legalize 10,000 or 10 million they wouldn't be happy. What I'm saying is, if everyone had a permit comes the time to decide what happens, if you have 500K people getting legalized it could be something that they would do with the public not really even paying attention to it. When you have 10+ million, it'll be a bigger deal than 500k and it would make headlines/cause major backlash for the parties.

To your second point: My friend, you're preaching to the choir. We are excellent for the economy and we're really not taking john doe's precious job.. It's just one of their shitty arguments.

Would I like to see everyone legalized? Fuck yea I would.. Everyone should have a good life and a fair shot and living how they want to... Do I think it would hurt daca beneficiaries if everyone had a work permit? ABSOLUTELY!! You can agree or disagree it doesn't matter. That is my belief on it. I don't understand why the previous user took what I said and twisted it around to something it wasn't. We all have common a interest here.
