The dynamic in Congress is usually bills are taken more seriously when introduced early in the Congress. It takes time and momentum to build coalitions for passage. Certainly there was foresight that there would be a danger to DACA just after the elections, why now?

Maybe they've tested the atmosphere and realize they can do something more permanent?

It is possible,

The other thought is that, this is no ordinary circumstance, so the dynamics are not the same as before. There is I guess to some degree, a bit of urgency.

Do you guys believe it's possible for them to reach 60 votes in the Senate at this moment?

There must be a reason these two senators are introducing something new rather than pushing BRIDGE Act which has already been introduced in House & Senate.

That doesn't mean anything . Senators come together for bills all the time to have it fail. Even within own republicans they couldn't pass a replacement for Obamacare . Not trying to be negative but we gotta be realistic

My concern is that politicians nowadays like to put out bills that appeases whatever their base is, so they get the to say "here I introduced this bill that does xyz like I promised!" but in reality it means nothing since it either doesn't pass, or it isn't even voted on. Also the fact that republicans are more dysfunctional than they even realized themselves

Everyone says it's on Democrats to compromise, and it may be, but for 8 years all republicans could talk about, complain about, was repealing the Affordable Care Act, and now that they finally are in control of all branches, they still can't even do that

I hope they don't put the stupid age limit on there since many people the original Dream Act was going to help are already over 35.

The 1986 amnesty covered anybody who had been to the US prior to 1982 so if someone was brought here in 1983 at the age of 2, the original Dream Act wouldn't cover them.

I seriously hope not, even thought I wasn't singled out I definitely feel for all those aged out dreamers. They deserve an opportunity just as much as everyone.

I am hoping Trump's push to 51 vote majority in the Senate can push us over the edge. . That would be so ironic
