I agree that Democrats are using this discharge petition just to show face, but not if but when it fails let's hope they try to pass a bill that includes compromise from both sides.

7 days to get the 218 signatures starting yesterday. So they need to get them by Oct 2nd and it can be voted on. The vote day ewill depend on when the calendar is open to allow vote

It gets voted on by the full house where it will likely pass.

Then a similar bill needs get out of a senate committee ( without a discharge petition ) voted on in the Senate and get 60 votes

Then if there are any differences between the bills, it goes to conference committee where the differences are worked out.

The bill goes back to each chamber one more time and then on to Trump to sign or veto.
