Democrats have had historic margins recently in and flipped big time counties that Trump won in VA, Alabama and other special elections in Oklahoma, Atlanta.

I mean Enten, Sean from RCP and Nate Cohn from NYT said after tonight the senate is a toss-up. Difficult but not impossible.

I love that Doug Jones won and everything. But at this point it would make no sense for the Democrats to shut down the government with so much momentum going into the 2018 elections. I hate to say it but yes we will get kick down the road again. Worse case scenario will get the BRIDGE act as a stopgap.

Please, a govt shutdown would energize the base that won it for them in Alabama.
Sit downnnn

Easier said then done. A shutdown is not a done deal. Nancy and Chuck and even some prominent Democrats have not committed to a shut down over DACA. It’s one thing to be optimistic, but to say that a shutdown is a done deal already is just being delusional.

I don't think we're as important as we think we are to the American people to suggest that Democrats will shutdown the government for us. Dems can insinutate it all they want, but there's a reason they haven't came out and outright said they would shut it down if DA isn't included and that's because they know they wouldn't do it.

^^ This!

And not to mention they literally have all the momentum heading into the 2018 elections. At this point, it’s absurd for us to think they’ll be willing to risk a shutdown over us. The American people see how dysfunctional the GOP is right now and they expect someone to start acting like adults and govern and that’s were the Democrats come in. I seriously doubt they will be a shut down over us.

DREAMers,

Good morning from cold California. Let's see what new stuff unfolds for us today.

For those claiming the govt doesn't care about us.

What about the pressure from our boys Mark Suckerburg, Tim Crook, and all those other media giants who came out to support our cause? How does that play into all of this?

I think there's an arguments for both strategies for Dems - shutting down or not shutting down over DREAM Act. The Democrats do need to remember that once they lose this leverage they will be forced to concede a lot more on border security/enforcement to get BRIDGE Act or allow DREAMers to be at a real risk of deportation.
