Renewing will do almost nothing for us at this point. You'll still be left without protection between spring/summer 2020 and January 20, 2021, and those months before the election will consist of him throwing red meat to his base. Don't be surprised if, during those months, he either decides to completely kill off all DACA permits at once, or if he asks ICE to go completely apeshit on us. And God help you if he wins that November.

I’ll be long gone before any of that happens. My current exit strategy is within the next 2-3 months...

My company knows my situation and wants to ensure I stay in the organization. I’ve been there almost 5 years and I was just promoted last year to corporate level management. They’ve offered me the following options (I also get to keep my US level salary and bonuses)

1. Work remotely from anyplace in the world as long as I have access to a good internet connection.
2. Open up and manage my own branch in any of the following locations
a. Canada (Vancouver)
b. Mexico (anywhere) but I will pick PV
c. South America (preferably Colombia or Brazil)
3. Work in our partners office in London

Options 1 and 3 are cool but I will have more continuous growth potential if I open up my own branch. That’s is why I’m sticking with option 2. Now out of a, b, and c... I dont know anyone is South America so I already passed on that one.. a and b was a very close call but then I remember how much I dislike cold weather and how expensive Vancouver is.. Overall I’m leaning hard on b as it would be on a beach town with all the amenities that we are used to, plus amazing food, great weather and a crime rate lower than the city I currently work at. Not to mention that I have family there and the cost of living is 65% less! I could easily choose to retire in about 15 years.

I started working on plan B ever since DACA was terminated. Sold my condo last month, dropped out of grad school so I could work a bit extra (they don’t care about overtime at my hospital) putting all my crap in a storage unit in a couple of weeks. I sent in my renewal last week so I may have an additional 2 years to save up and retire on some mountain back where I was born. I will also change my name to Obi Wan Kenobi. Maryland will always be my Home.

damn, you didnt hold out till we are actually gone to sell your condo? im still living in mine, but if all hope is lost i will sell my property eventually.

i will also live in exile (Luke Skywalker/The Last Jedi) since my prediction of us getting relief is looking to be wrong.

I’m not celebrating Christmas until I get legalized, Tomi Lauren. Or until I live in another first world country that treats me with dignity.
