It also goes against the fact that hardline republicans think immigrants will always vote Democrat. Every policy so far brought up by Trump reduces legal immigration for that reason.

Edit: One more thing to note: This is literally taking high paying jobs from Americans. So Trump would rather import foreign workers for the high paying jobs instead of hiring Americans, and want to kick out the immigrants that are doing the jobs Americans don't want to do. ??????
Republicans did kinda bring that onto themselves. If one party says that they want to deport your grandmother and your cousin you probably won't support them.

Republicans can't court dreamers because then they'd alienate their base that wants all browns and blacks removed or executed on sight. Republicans want a return to the anglo-saxon roots of the United States.
