Sad that at this point, the best we can look forward to is a Trump veto. Dems manage to pull out a loss from the clutches of a win yet again.

I hate the fact that our fates rest on INCOMPETENT people. The thing that I dislike the most in life are INCOMPETENT people and we are in bed with them at no choosing of our own..

Yes! We are going to primary him and put it in someone like AOC. She might be too far left but at least she has some spine and she fights!

Lmao! You realize we're NOT voters, or even that important as constituents? Trump has enough Hispanic cucks backing him to make overall Hispanic support a non-factor in the few states they can swing elections.

People are sympathetic and understand what we're going through. That's literally all the influence we have, public opinion is what's pressuring congress to even entertain a DACA fix. That and morality.

Imagine walking by a starving mother and her infant son, begging for help. You offer her food and she complains it has pickles, and she hates pickles and she'd rather someone more accommodating to her personal tastes would offer her food instead of you. I'd lose empathy.

Good portion of the people on here are not hispanic.

It has been shown over and over again that the majority of the hispanic USC that actually vote do not really care about immigration. Once again it is the economy, stupid.

We are not begging for anything. Our situation is a civil rights issue. We did not choose to be brought here at a young age. And if you are going to use us for political gain, e.g. printing our pictures on cardboards and giving tear dropping speeches on the senate floor. Then you ought be open to the consequences of not being able ro push through a single legislation for the last 18 years. He is totally ineffective.

There is nothing stoping us from getting the justice democrats to primary him. If you think so lowly of yourself then you might as well go jump off a bridge. I have no sympathy for Durbin or people like you that make it sound like we are worthless pieces of shit.

It's an issue to hispanics in the same way Sikhs aren't Muslim, but anti-Muslim sentiments still disproportionately affect them.. They have to live with the misplaced discrimination the same way Puerto Ricans are being harrased as "immigrants".

So yes, this is very much a Hispanic issue, or at least on the surface it is. I wish they were more unified in their opposition as black Americans who polled like 1% with Trump in 2016.

And being that we aren't even citizens and therefore have no civic rights, it's a human rights issue technically speaking.

Lastly, Durbin can't control how unmoved his opponents are by our stories. But he can change public opinion which he has, 70% of Trump's own voters are in favor of DACA relief. Imagine how that number would look if they lumped us into the same category as our parents.

It is laughable to say that it was Dick Durbin that single handedly changed the public view about the Dreamers.!!!

So Tester and Machin were his opponents back in 2010? I thought they were in the same party!!!

I am just curious, how much are you getting paid by Dick Durbin to say these things?! I promise you this, I am going to get him primaried in Illinois by the Justice Democrats! He needs to answer for his ineffectiveness for the past 18 years! Let's see what happens!!!

Aside from the name calling, I agree with your point.

It's been 18 years and we're being exposed to the same shit each time a bill is drafted for Congress.
At this point, I'll certainly say we're just political pawns, used to galvanize their bases.
Imagine if we were granted some form of reprieve 10 years ago, how would either party gain sympathy votes. Trump is so dense, he makes it obvious that we'll be used for bargaining chips at a later date. On the other hand, Durbin/Pelosi and the Democrats are not willing to challenge is play with a more longterm solution, but instead are also holding out... for 2020, which I'm sure they're sure to lose.

A more appropriate analogy would be a hungry child begging for food and those saying they'll help would rather dangle food in front of the child wherever there is a crowd. Then Trump takes away the food and indicates that he'll use it as bargaining chips. The Democrats are like... ok, we'll concede to your demands; knowing well that they're giving up a perfect opportunity to feed the child in order to regain control of the piece of food at a later date.
