Infrastructure bills are needed more than ever before because all these floodings, passage is a must imo.

The reconciliation bill with immigration provisions takes priority for most of us on this site.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) has privately warned the White House and congressional leaders that he has specific policy concerns with President Biden's $3.5 trillion social spending dream — and he'll support as little as $1 trillion of it — Axios' Hans Nichols scoops.

At most, he's open to supporting $1.5 trillion, sources familiar with the discussions say.

Quote:
What we're hearing: The White House still appears optimistic that a deal can be reached.

Manchin was careful in his WSJ piece not to close the door to future negotiations.
"Sanders wanted a large number and Manchin wants a smaller number and we’re going to work this process to try to reach common ground," said one source familiar with the White House's thinking. "There is a wide spectrum of opinions in the Democratic caucuses, and plenty of negotiation will take place. But we will continue to get this done, finding common ground."

1.5 trillion + previously passed 1.6 trillion = 3.1 trillion. I think this is probably what the dems were aiming for from the beginning. Could maybe even go a bit more and get to 3.5 total but if Manchin is onboard with 1.5 dems mostly got what they wanted in terms of how much they want to spend.

Congress just let millions of Americans go out of unemployment, leaving them vulnerable for poverty. Lets not kid ourselves that once the Supreme Court rules against us that they will run to our rescue to save face. If they don't care about their voters, then they simply don't care about us either.

Immigration reform should not be an issue for Manchin since adding vetted immigrants to the tax revenue has been shown to add over 1 trillion dollars to the economy over the next decade. Adding the undocumented population will be a net positive to the budget.

Machin's approval rating is starting to drop. However, and unfortunately, I don't think he gives a shit unless they take a poll of anyone who pays the troll for all of this stupidity. As long as that money flows in, he'll keep this bullshit up to keep his name in the news.

He, and that alcoholic lunatic Simena, can go fuck themselves.

What remains to be seen is whether the Senate chairs ultimately cater to Manchin's demands or try to railroad him into making a choice: Approve the most sweeping piece of domestic legislation in decades -- or be responsible for sinking it singlehandedly.

"We're moving full steam ahead," Schumer said Wednesday, rejecting Manchin's much-publicized call last week for a "strategic pause" in consideration of the bill.

Schumer and Manchin -- who have long had a frank and collegial relationship -- have been in constant talks throughout the month of August and was not caught off-guard by Manchin's op-ed last week, multiple sources say. Schumer knows full well that he needs to keep his most important swing vote at bay, in addition to Sinema, who has already said she'd oppose a bill that costs $3.5 trillion.
