Biden is no longer working his Senate experience and connections for a massive, glorious deal? Dang, why did I buy into all the hype? *snaps fingers*

You must be under the delusion that a Republican Congress would pass the DREAM ACT, then?

What would they specifically lose?

Well, lucky for us, Dems are slowing losing the hispanic vote, they might think they need to do this to recover, I mean we all know these politicians are only looking out for themselves.

I don't think he means that reps will ever pass the DA. I think he's trying to say it's all about the timing. The dems will try to squeeze us till the very end.

Well… He said Congress… “especially under Democrats” is not going to pass DREAM Act. That makes it sound like a Republican Congress is more likely to pass it. I actually don’t get it. What would Democrats get by “squeezing” us? Or, what would they lose if they passed it? In this polarized political environment, I think Democrats have nothing to lose and more to gain.

In the past, 10 years ago or more, they could not dare to do this alone. But, after the Trump presidency, they went further to the left on immigration because Democratic voters did so after being very turned off by Trump’s immigration policies and rhetoric in general. Also, DACA is popular even among American voters. So, they won’t face backlash they would have faced like 10 years ago. The immigration provisions being examined by the parliamentarian are quite narrow, compared to past comprehensive immigration reform bills. Immigration is a polarizing issue between Democrats and Republicans. But, I don’t think it holds the same polarizing energy once it had… at least with the current one. Those who disapprove of Democrats due to their immigration policies are already hard-core Republicans. Nothing really changes.. maybe except their renewed focus on their anti-immigration talks.

Also, Democrats are trying to achieve as much as possible before they lose power in Congress. So, I actually don’t get it when people say Democrats in Congress are trying to drag it as long as possible. Dragging it for what?

The assumption around these parts is that Democrats think of us as cash cows and groups like UWD being able to raise money off the undocumented crowd for their own use.

If this bill passes, will we have to leave the country to adjust status/get our green cards?
