The only bill or amendment that stands a chance during this lame duck session is one that addresses currently active DACA recipients. The moment anyone tries to add more people beyond that pool, you can forget about anything happening.

Agreed. At this point, I just want to see a bill/proposal. They're going to have a very limited window to get this done before the December recess.

I agree with both sentiments, the shooting is terrible and it is better to keep Daca out of the news until they have something to show. I would be ok with them passing the bill in secret if it kept the hawks away from it.

FYI............. McCarthy already said the house will not bring up immigration bills if he is the house leader.

I'm not sure how serious the efforts are to get something pass into law during this lame duck, but this will be our best chance. Once the republicans take over the house, we can forget about anything happening.
Quote:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) called on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign over his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border, saying that GOP lawmakers will consider impeachment next year if he does not step down.

So what are the chances of getting 10 republican senate votes? If DACA alone is attached to the bill, is it easy this time?

For Dream Act, it’s 4-5 votes we have according to Durbin.

If Dema can add something else to appease the GOP like more funding for border security, i think we can get the 10 votes needed. Hence why i’m not as pessimistic as some of the other members here. But will the Dems be willing to add something and will GOP still being dicks? Question remains
