Hello guys!
Excuse me if this is a dumb question but, I've decided I wanted to enlist for the army through MAVNI as Portuguese is one of the languages that qualify. How do I go on with the process? Is the program still active?
Thank you!

I just received an offer from another Fortune 500 company, I don't need this stress. I want out, unfortunately since I am in the Army reserve, I am trapped. The lingering basic training date still lingers like a fly.

If only they followed through their contract, this wouldn't have been a problem and I would've loved serving while continuing my civilian career, however given the current circumstances its becoming a bother now crippling other opportunities.

I can totally relate. Do you think as an AD, I should get out of this mess?

AD has a lot of flexibility, I say play it by ear. You are not in the Army yet unlike the MAVNI reserves so if you find a great opportunity elsewhere take it and just tell your recruiter good bye.

I think you're the only one complaining for being in DTP rather than in DEP. You should be thankful that you are in the reserves. Try posting this in any of the mavni fb groups.

Not the only one. Most of the MAVNIs in my unit share the same sentiment. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful to even have the opportunity to join the Army. But if they cancel our contracts (AD and AR) then we would all be left in the same boat (except most AR MAVNIs in my unit wasted gas and time compared to AD where all you do is go to your local recruiter and do FS exercises.)

Lastly, I'd like to think of it as a mutual trade off, this country gets overqualified ENLISTED soldiers and in return we all get citizenship. I guess my vent is more focused on the government not fulfilling their part. That's all. Let's hope for the best.

^Honestly that's the only thing I'm banking on. I have a receipt # for the n400 now at least and there's a pending class action for it. You can get naturalized even if DACA expires/out of status so AR's should have their fingers crossed.
