Whenever we check his case online, it just says fingerprint fee received, but it doesn’t say anything else. Do we need to call to say he had his fingerprints done at a different center or do they already process that in their system? How long does it take to receive an update after fingerprints are done?
That's normal, there's only a few updates for all forms:
Received, Biometrics, Interview*, RFE, Approved, Denied, Document in Production*

* - Not applicable to I-601A

Been together for 12 years and married for 2 with a baby so bona-fide as it gets. Unfortunately, I do have removal proceedings so I guess I got an interview to look forward to.

How long does it usually take to get a notice in the mail after biometrics are done?

6-12 months. The only notices you'll get is possibly an RFE, and either approval or denial.

Oh boy.

My mom leaves for Juarez this Sunday with both I-130 and I-601A approved, all the documentation needed, apparently no re-entry, no criminal record, or anything. They scheduled the doctor appointment for Monday, Wednesday for bios, and Thursday is the actual interview at 9am. And I am nervous as shit.. but my brother, the sponsor (USC), is completely calm. Haha.

Just posting the timeline in case anyone wonders how far in between things are scheduled.

Good planning on the days. One benefit is that she can visit her friends/family (if any) on the way to in Juarez.

Immigrant visa is valid for 180 days. She can take a vacation before returning but most people just make a bee-line back.
