Hmm. I was under the impression that the max age to enlist was around 26, never looked into it. Im 25 at the moment and quite fit but damn, just the thought of leaving everything and everyone behind sucks.

Before when I was younger I would have never considered joining the military, since I was 25+ I have given it better thought to the idea, and I think I might be down to joining. Keep in mind that it is no all about the benefits you receive but also what you give back, and this country, there is no higher respect when you love the country than serving in the armed forces. I would definitely be open to serving and it would be a great honor. Remember it's not about what you can get, it's about what you can give.

I honestly believe Trump will pass a great immigration bill with the help of the Senate and House.

Me too. If he plays his cards right, the republicans may win some of us for the next election.

Well, given that my stomach has been trying to eat my esophagus for the last 8 years, it hasn't been easy. Life WAS much easier back in the old days. You didn't need any ID to fly for instance and no fear. I initially was paroled in the US and the relative I was staying with, in a self serving effort to deduct us from his taxes got us Social Security Cards which had "Not valid for employment" stamped on it. That was the biggest gift he gave us because life would have been absolute hell without it.

Using that and a school ID plus tranlsations of my birth certificate, I was able to get an honest the goodness driver's license which again, opened many many doors. That was back when a DL was just an ID and a public safety device to ensure drivers were safe on the road, but sadly, all that became political. I no longer have that sadly. I have something which lets me get by and as you can imagine, putting bread on the table is difficult and often involves back breaking work and I have no way to reach my full potential. I do get my moments however. It sucks because I often have companies who want to hire me for various things or as a contractor but I don't want to be 1099'ed so I have to decline them.

At this point, I mostly just exist. Hopefully my family sponsorship will kick in in 2 years, unless the orange man declares my country of origin as hostile and screws me over.

Preach. My sentiments exactly.
