Trump has a fragile ego but he is not afraid of bad press. His whole campaign is proof.

They should put politics aside and focus on dealing with the issue. It will be good for the entire country.
The "waiver of the 10 year ban + work authorization + ability to travel" was the deal the Republicans wanted to pass in 2013. It was to be a non - immigrant thing, but you could convert via marriage. That died when Eric Cantor lost. Instead, people pressured Obama for a better deal than they could have gotten with the Republican house.

Kelly wants to speed up deportations so people stop coming. You would not pay someone your life savings if you were caught and dumped back in your country in 6 months. Speeding up deportation of people with existing orders, have been in the US or a couple of years, and getting asylum cases taken care of in 6 months instead of 6 years is probably more likely.

I think Kelly will put Dreamers at the bottom of his list.

We're over here worried about DACA meanwhile the GOP is dismantling key pieces of Obamacare in the next funding bill. There's gonna be blood on the hands of the GOP this whole year. Chaos.

And that's not all - GOP also wants to cut Social Security and Medicare.

Trump will not allow this.

As we should be, DACA has represented a fundamentally positive shift for many lives here. To take it away leaves many questions unanswered on what may happen after, especially with the incoming administration. Both the incoming attorney general and secretary were questioned by Senators on DACA specifically and both gave mummed descriptive elements on what they might do..other than "I will enforce the law" bs.

I know we should be. What I'm saying though is how crazy this looks. Republicans do not have the best interests of their voters in mind. The GOP all voted for the repeal bill in the senate, meanwhile we have bipartisan support for the bridge act. Trump hadn't back down from Obamacare as the last press conference pointed out. But right after the election he took a different tone on dreamers. It's really crazy. Who and what can we trust??

What makes things harder is that you can't really trust the news anymore either. It's all geared towards generating clicks and ad revenue. Right now I'm basing my expectations on direct quotes from the people in charge, even if they aren't exactly the most trustworthy. And so far we really only have two direct quotes:

1. Trump saying he "will work something out for DREAMers"
2. Ryan saying they "won't pull the rug out from under DREAMers"

That's as close as we've gotten towards any "real" news. The Sessions and Kelly hearings really only amounted to "I don't know what Trump is planning for DACA, but I'll follow the law (i.e. do whatever Trump says)". So basically we have to wait for Trump to actually issue some kind of order or statement about DACA before we really find out what's going to happen.

Ryan said the same thing about people on ACA and it looks like their doing just that. However, we actually have the bridge act. Republicans have no replacement for the ACA, even after 7 years. Plus the repeal of ACA will directly or indirectly impact some dreamers as well.

That's true. I wasn't saying that I necessarily trust them, just that it's the only "real" thing we've heard about DACA. If you use what they are doing on ACA as a template for what might happen to DACA, then more than likely they will end DACA on day one like they said, which will light the fuse and get the BRIDGE Act or SAFE Act going. I think something like BRIDGE or SAFE Act actually has kind of a good chance of passing.
