Exactly. I'm probably able to persue a graduate degree without needing the tax credit now (also, I think I used it all up) but I wouldn't have been able to complete my undergrad without it and I don't want it being it taken away for those still persuing their education.

It's a trap. I would've let it slide if it handed out 5 years GC with 3 years condition, and eligibility for citizenship right after.

As it stands this bill is trash right of the bat.

its a bad bill man, i was cool with the 15-20 yr wait for citizenship but after reading through it and finding out shit like

- waiving 5th amendment due process rights
- barring other benefits e.g American Opportunity Tax Credit (which way pay for cause we pay taxes)
- expedited removals

what's next? they gonna bar us from employee provided healthcare?

ugh, ridiculous bro. these republicans will have us walking on egg-shells for 15-20 years? wtf?

The DREAM ACT is the gold standard
its fair and compassionate.

I do not believe you get tax credits for graduate degrees, if you do it is like 10 dollars...

I believe it is specifically for undergraduates, and I believe 4 years.

I can't believe there are people in this forums that support this. This is literally losing a leg for a prosthetic one in the long run. They have us on a leash like this. Not to mention we'll be second-rate immigrants. Waived legal rights, wow. You guys really want this?

yes its only for undergraduates and not post-graduate.

but i dont want other DREAMErs to be barred from getting help with tuition because of this bill, while they are pursuing one of the requirements (associates/bachelors) to get conditional residency.

this is an a-hole bill to weed out the people that don't really understand immigration laws and proceedings, etc.

though some of us in this forum are informed with the issues, i believe we should still support those people who do not.

Funny how people jumped on me in the other thread when i was the first one who said that this proposal was bad. Now all of you all over Durbin nuts. I get that you people are desperate but please have some dignity. Durbin just confirmed my original thoughts on this bill.

This is a shitty bill. USCIS and ICE will create a task force specifically designed to keep an eye on us. They'll charge us with the stupidest crimes and is out the door son.
They'll probably tag our car plates.
