I agree once we lose this leverage it will be tough to get a better or even a decent deal. But the state were in right now and with the possibility of taking back the Senate in 2018, it’s becoming even more doubtful that the Democrats would commit to a shut down and possibly ruin their chances.

Yes they won Alabama. But it didn’t just take a Democratic turn out to win it. It took independents and even some moderate Republicans to get it done. There are still 10 more conservative seats they need to win in 2018. The possibility of them winning there just grew larger after last night. I don’t see them throwing all that away in a government shut down.

According to Schumer, this will be a Republican lead shutdown, should it go that route. Do you remember that?

And that's why I think something will pan out. It may not be Durbin's DREAM Act, but instead Flake's bill. It gives the Republicans what they want, provides us with a pathway to become legalized and addresses a lot of the issues that Republicans have had (even though they're bullshit).

I approve this message.

As much as all dreamers hope that the democrats will be ride or die for us to get permanent relief by the end of the year. I don't think it's going to happen via govt shutdown. They know the narrative Trump "the spin master" will spew, and even the people that are empathetic to our situation won't be happy that the government shutdown over immigration fight for dreamers. They also have to think about losing votes from there voters, not just dreamer situation. It hurts for us, but it is what it is.

I think the can will get kicked far down the road and whatever relief we get will be minimal bridge act.

Maybe you could be right about that. But i am starting to think it could happen until January, maybe as late as February. Time will tell, but I don't have a lot of faith in Congress because they screw their own votibg constituents everyday ( ex: Trumpcare, tax scam bill, and not funding CHIP). Smh
