Why is that? You don’t have to be homosexual to stand up to ignorant and discriminating comments made towards homosexuals. Just as how US citizens have every right to stand up against injustice towards undocumented immigrants.

Doesn't matter. You can make it happen if you try real hard. It's not impossible.

If you think it's not though (understandably so), focus on other avenues to the future.

Okay. If you have had different experiences, great. But I'm sorry, you can't tell me that my experiences are invalid.

I don't think anyone is implying that your experiences are invalid. I think people just want to encourage you that eventually you'll find the right person and make it work.

Or at least less obliviously ignorant and assumptions. At least.

That isn't the issue. The person who I responded to is welcome to fight for LGBT rights if they want to do so. But calling my experiences as a homosexual man ignorant when they don't even share that identity is honestly laughable. If they have different views and you're not a gay man, you can respectfully disagree. But, don't tell me that my views on gay men, a group of people that I am a member of, are ignorant.
They represent my experiences and I stand by them.

He told me that I have a lot to learn after telling me that I was digging myself deeper and deeper. I don't perceive that as encouragement.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But I'm a homosexual who has lived in New York City, a city known for its gay community, for almost four years and it's not like I have been in the closet for those years. Nevertheless it's funny that you are so insistent that I'm ignorant about a group I'm a part of (and I'm actually writing a senior thesis about homosexual communities).
