No one is getting 'deferred action' and 'work permits' out of this clause. It is not the same as DACA protection. It's closer to the enforcement priorities that Obama implemented for DHS that Trump took away.

I just realized that neither reps or dems want a solution. This is all a show, the Dems know this bill is not going to pass in the house. This whole situation is a business being profited by politicians and the media, if the issue gets solved then the business is over.

DHS has to prioritize because there isn't enough resources to deport everyone at the moment they have contact with them (also, due process). That includes DACA beneficiaries.

Unless you really are out committing crimes, you probably won't be prioritized because there are not enough resources.

Again, not enough resources.

PRIORITIES - In carrying out immigration enforcement activies, the Secretary shall prioritize available immigration enforcement resources to aliens who-
(A) have been convicted of-
(i) a felony;
(ii) a significant misdemeanor; or
(iii) 3 or more misdemeanor offenses;
(B) pose a threat to national security or public safety; or
(C)(i) are unlawfully present in the United States; and
(ii) arrived in the United States after June 30, 2018
Prioritize those that arrived after June 30, 2018. If you arrived before June 30, 2018 , you're gucci, you won't be a priority. Race to the border!

Collins just said they will move it back to the original date on the first draft of the bill, January, 1 2018. It was stupid to have the date in the future.

Thats where they messed up. They put a date in the future rather than in the past. Thats why Republicans wont vote for this probably. They should have set the date to 2017 at minimum
