Eh. This would never work. There are too many organizing involved to get something like this going.

You're better off using that money to bribe your friends vote for a certain candidate.

A better initiative is to simply create a dreamers help sub-forum. If a dreamer is in financial difficulty, he/she can ask for it in the forum and people can donate. Even this, you're technically throwing your money away hoping you gave it to someone who really needs it.

Asking for a hefty sum to support an unknown amount of ppl simply will not work. I can have all my friends pose as dreamers and get a cut. Then we'll use the money and buy beer.

Actually it could work with proper organization and yes funding as well.

People could be asked for proof of an economic necessity, and also proof that the money they will receive is being used for good not just to go out and party. Let's say they need money for school or idk start their own business well that's a good cause. It could ne sort of a "scholarship" or better yet a grant and there could be an application process that way it's not like they say hey i need $250 to pay for my car note or whatever and we just hand them the money the next week.

People here will just talk and move no fingers. I guarantee this.

The shoe fits man. The best thing to do in terms of this is to pass on the idea to an existing trusted DREAM organization. I think I would, one, have a problem in finding a nearby reliable staff to handle the money and, two, presenting myself as trustworthy person to be handling that kind of money. My grand record of using colorful language in heated debates fucks up the whole trust thing. True story.

That being said, I feel like we should help the pioneers of the cause in anyway we can. One way could be to start a "financial-aid organization" for aged-out dreamers who are in dire need of monetary assistance and are, thus, struggling to hold on to their American dreams. The funds would be gathered through our donations and distributed in an undetermined way (this is just a rough idea).

It is estimated that around 800,000 or 1 million dreamers will benefit from Obama's new policy. So, just imagine if we could all donate atleast 10 bucks every month or 2 months. This would help the aged-out dreamers hold on to their aspirations until relief is provided.

What do all of you think?
A. This won't raise more than $10.
B. No thanks. I'd rather you fight for us to get work permits too. I'm not starving, but I want to not be afraid every time I drive and not watch my life waste away any more.

You have a very good idea, but we need to see from their point of it, not everyone will want.

Anytime it comes to funding it is a lot easier to talk about something like that, but people are always hesitant to give money. The only time people are going to lift a finger is if the guilt is strong enough to push them towards giving money. I remember after the Haiti disaster, phone companies offered a text "specific number" to donate $5. This worked brilliantly, online donations are much more difficult.
