Well, I've only ever worked on the books precisely so that I could prove my earnings, payments and contributions. How else would the govnmt know? I never expected it to backfire. This really blows.

Realistically, very few illegals used their own social security number to pay taxes so I think this is more to prevent future litigation of newly freed illegals who used someone else's number and want to get credit for it.

The people it might end up hurting are those who USED to be authorized to work here and then fell out of status and lost their work permit but continued working and paying into social security and will apply for this bill.

That's my dad's situation. He got his SSN in 86', but he never completed the entire process to legalize due to having to go back to Mexico. He's been using his SSN ever since, but he's never had a legal status.

This means that 2004-2014 taxes paid will not count towards Social Security payments? Is that the only disadvantage? What about Federal and/or State taxes? Medicare?

Oh ok. That means if the undocumented has back taxes from 2004-2014 than they would not have to pay ?

I don't see this as a big deal as long as CIR passes the way it looks now in the Senate.
