They are CS professionals with advanced graduate degrees; it makes not a difference. We go out to eat, and they get treated differently. We go shopping and I can feel the difference. The majority of those enabling the prejudice are "white" Americans. I've only ever dated Caucasian men; most of my friends are Caucasian; and they too are aware of intrinsic racist attitudes. We believe in creating change by modeling the behavior that we wish to see in others, and to lead by example. I'm sorry that you have experienced racism from other Hispanics; surely you know by now not to paint everyone with the same brush.
I realize all Hispanics are not racist. I have Hispanic friends, whom I cherish. However, I also realize the culture of many, which includes a low overall opinion of black Americans. I have witnessed their disdain towards blacks. Once racism is instilled, it is not easily changed. Sure, there are racist Caucasians. But, they are not all racists. I can certainly attest to that.

They don't have licenses and if the police put two and two together and find out they're undocumented, they are arrested and placed under ICE custody.

There are different groups of undocumented immigrants coming from different backgrounds. You do have individuals whom you mention that abuse the system, I know, I've actually voiced my opinion on that in this website. But it's not an accurate portrayal to say there are hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants that do this, when you look at the plight of those who come here. Immigrants, in general, aspire to make something of themselves in the land of opportunity, not to be a burden onto themselves.

There can't be a one size fits all solution to immigration. You mentioned your desire for a merit based system, letting those who can contribute stay and those who can't leave, it sounds commonplace, but the congress can't come up with the fix. You can make it happen you have a voice, whatever fixes you think need to happen, you are entitled to your opinions being heard.

I, along with others here, will continue to live with DACA.
I realize we are all individuals. I have no doubt some illegal aliens are kind, hardworking people, simply trying to survive. There are good and bad in every group. If these same people respected this country enough to play by the rules, I would welcome them with open arms. But, we can't keep going down this same road every 20 to 30 years. We simply can't. No country can sustain a constant flow across its border.

There will never be a viable solution from Congress. Neither side wants illegal immigration to end. Even with the passage of CIR, the government will leave the border open. This country is now an oligarchy. "We the People" have no power. Nearing an election is the only time politicians give a damn about constituents. Afterward, they return to doing the bidding for special interest groups who line their pockets. I never thought I would live to see this country become so greedy and corrupt. It is truly sad.

As previously mentioned, I believe the DREAM Act will pass. I can't imagine anyone not supporting granting legal status to people who entered this country as innocent children. But, you must do something to change the negative image. Believe me, the arrogance is a huge tune-off. Tell your leaders to try "asking" for a change, rather than "demanding." I am sure it will make a difference. In the meantime, enjoy DACA!

That should be "turn-off" not "tune-off."

Wow. Can you stfu and get off this forum? It's painfully obvious you're trying to appear "objective" yet passive-aggressive with your opinion. Stop. You're hopeless. No one is buying your pretentious act. You're as bad as the extreme right wingers of this country.

Wow! How pathetic. Despite your crude behavior, I will continue to support the DREAM Act. I realize all Dreamers are not as obnoxious and vulgar as you and a few others on this forum. Some are actually deserving of legalization and a chance for a normal life in this country.

If you thought you could get a rise out of me, you thought wrong. I will not stoop to your base level. For your information, I don't have a "pretentious" bone in my body. I sincerely thought I could help. But, obviously my perspective is not appreciated by some, which is fine. I am not the one in need of support and legalization.

However, if I'm not mistaken, you are not a mod on this forum. I have done nothing to violate TOS, unless friendly advice and opposition to CIR qualifies as such. In any case, I will certainly let others know, unless they support CIR, some Dreamers don't want their support. Thanks for the tip.

Have a great day!

Yeah your uninformed thoughts are unappreciated here. Anybody could go to any opposition's forum, trying to sound objective as possible while continuing to passive-aggressively give your opinion.

Why are you here? To argue with bunch of internet people? Majority of us are here so we can support each other and help each other with whatever difficulties or questions we have. You do not know what it feels like to be in our shoes or POV. Don't pretend that you have compassion for us when it's clear from your posts that you do not (despite your continuing yelling of "I SUPPORT THE DREAM ACT", "I HAVE COMPASSION FOR DREAMERS", etc). If you have not be in our shoes, do not pretend to know what we've gone through in our lives.

But her husband went through the legal immigration process so she must know somehow.

I explained my purpose. My intent was to help Dreamers understand the issue of illegal immigration from a non-racist citizen's perspective. I did not come here to troll or antagonize.

You have made your point. I am not welcome here by some. Your opinion of me is irrelevant. I know my heart, as does God. That is all that matters to me. I don't have have to prove myself to you. If you don't want my support, so be it.

And you gave us your perspective of a citizen. And as I have said, scapegoating a group that is less than 5% in this country is ridiculous. Don't give me this "non-racist" perspective as I have said, majority of people who are against giving illegals a second chance claim not to be racist. But willing to bet decent portion of them are also the ones complaining about Spanish being spoken in this country and simply does not want to be branded as a racist because of the stigma that holds.

I will only say this one more time. The vast majority of citizens opposed to illegal immigration are NOT racists.

Stop drinking the MSNBC koolaid. There's a reason they are at the bottom of the media ranking. Only the most clueless believe their tripe. They have an agenda. It's too bad you don't realize how you are being duped.

This is our country. We have a right to expect our laws to be enforced, our borders secured, and immigrants to go through legal channels. That does not constitute racism. Would it be racist for you to expect those entering your house to knock on your front door, and wait for an invitation to enter, as opposed to climbing through your bedroom window?

Think what you want. Again, it is irrelevant to me. I don't need your approval to enjoy my life. I'm through here. I was taught as a child to never stay where I am not welcome. I wish you all the best. Take care!
