with the consequences you bring up, will also come massive changes to the way they go about things.
the concept of work in japan is literally driving people to suicide, because they're unable to handle the stress of 70+ hour work weeks.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-33362387

"Experts think those rises are directly linked to the increase in "precarious employment", the practice of employing young people on short-term contracts.
Japan was once known as the land of lifetime employment.
But while many older people still enjoy job security and generous benefits, nearly 40% of young people in Japan are unable to find stable jobs."

you're solution to that^ is to add even MORE people to a job market that is already giving the native people a terrible time.
i think we could trade articles all night: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...few-immigrants
point being that is maybe these high suicide rates may also be from a cultural cue as well. they're all vying for highly competitive jobs, i can imagine it being stressful, but this other article says there are jobs open at smaller companies... these companies are experiencing a shortage. your claim that the high suicide rate linked solely to
the job environment is kind of short-sighted. there may be other factors at play here.

regardless, i'll read into the situation more during my leisure time. the problem is clearly much more complicated than what issues we've presented. besides if japan has a suicide problem, you're just taking away more people from the labor market, resulting in either the labor market having more leverage or the economy requiring more labor to meet demand.
