I hope we don't lose status. That's to be determined, there's too many factors in play and not enough information, especially since Trump is a wildcard. I think even Republican president like Romney, Jeb, and even Ted would've helped us but Trump has pushed republican party to be hard liners on immigration.

And of course, we pay taxes without getting federal social benefits. We are not ellgible. It's called taxation without representation. Americans had a war about that. Its not fair but it's the hand we are dealt.

Biden is the safest choice. Beto seems promising though.

Romney recently boasted he'd have been more stringent about immigration than Trump, but latter added he would've honored DACA because it was the right thing to do.

Trump is a malignant narcissist, incapable of empathy. He only pretends to appear compassionate if his cruelty earns him universal condemnation. That's why he relented on child separations, and DACA, but only in the beginning. DACA is out of the public conscious for now, so he's less inclined to budge on his position.

Only the courts can save us, we can only outlast his hopefully single term presidency and hope a Democrat unrescinds it, and actually defends it against people like Paxton. It would set a precedent of "Even Trump couldn't end DACA".

Whats worse is that ANY Republican candidate wont be just be competing with the Democrats but Trump himself, that means they will have to match or come close to this anti immigration stance

That's assuming most republicans are anti-immigrant. After seeing the stuff Trump has done with family separation and other things, they might've changed their minds. After all, these people are supposed to be christian & they're supposed to hate seizing private land for government use. If you say "well it's all a front" then it's hard to argue anything because they don't have any principles they stand by.

Right now, I think Trump has around 30-40% of the votes. If he does not change his stance on some things to bring more voters in and continue hard line policies, then it's very hard for him to win. We don't know at this point who the democratic nominee is and what baggage they have so we'll see.

It's also apparent that in the 2018 election cycle, there was huge voter turn out and being anti-immigrant is not a stance you want to take, or at least it didn't help.

I've always said Trump made 2 mistakes in his presidency. He put Jeff Sessions in charge and let the Russian investigation get out of hand and with miller, they came up with the zero tolerance policy. Both are very damaging to his reputation. I personally believe that Sessions or someone with Paxton had coordination and re-iterated the notion to sue the Trump adminstration about DACA. Before that, Trump didn't say anything or do anything about it. I think his "advisors" convince him to remove it. If it was just him the outcome might've been different. On the same topic, I think the zero tolerance policy was made by his advisors and maybe Sessions. He really didn't have a hand in it. He delegated too much to his advisors and had too much trust in them but then he had to defend it when shit hit the fan.

Bernie is a fucking idiot. He's just going to fuck it up for Joe Biden like he did for Hillary.
