He is adamant about the DD214 as well as going to basic first before naturalization which my lawyer countered that 1 day of qualifying service is sufficient. I also linked my lawyer to the Kirwa case.

When the officer called me I asked 'so going to drill and getting paid is not considered honorable? You're saying the army is wasting their money?' and he was stumped and just said well how come you haven't been to basic bla bla bla.

Its the law. Kirwa is more about the clearance for people who have citi already.

It seems the case really depends on the particular location / officer in charge.

Sorrybrah - I'm surprised you don't have a shipping date yet? What they're saying is if DOD released your name to USCIS for naturalization it means your investigations are all done/closed. I haven't seen anyone get tough time at the interview as long as they had a shipping date set.

Fried Frank lawyer reaching out to me now, figured it doesn't hurt to have more firepower behind your case.

Curious to know if any of you will back out of MAVNI if this immigration reform comes to fruition.

Too late for that now, But if given a chance I would - this shitshow is a headache, especially when you have a career. Enlisted recruiters just don't understand that most MAVNI's are not HighSchool kids and would appreciate some sense of professionalism with scheduling.

Nope, I've actually been really excited about the prospect of being a soldier and going into combat. Most recently I've been training to be a special forces operator and hope to change my mos into 11x when possible.

Anyone else feel the same about enlisting?

I do too my man. I want that soldier title. I have been training 6 days a week for over a year now and I am in best shape I have ever been (I was already in good shape btw, lifted weights for 3 years and played on a basketball team). I do not know if army will give us opportunity to work with special forces as its job requires one of highest security clearances. If army lets me I want a Ranger tab.

This is still the fastest shortcut to citizenship, I'm gonna go into OCS if at all possible since I feel like I would serve better in that aspect.
