If you wanted to be with excellent people then I think you should have gone into active duty because people who really want to do well in the military wouldn't go in with one foot halfway out the door.
Not sure if you are serious.

Very serious. I got a 99 on the asvab and I only got respect from my recruiters so I dont see where all the hate is. I don't look down on servicemembers but they don't automatically have my respect. Just like anywhere in life, the situation is what you make it.

Hang in there everyone, we're getting there soon!

Respect from recruiters? What do you mean?

Cool story, I got 99 on my asvab too. Active? And take the big ass pay cut? It’s honestly the same. The core problem is relatively the same between the two branches. Meanwhile, active duty obvisouly will gain more military experience and other fuck fuck games.

They didn't treat me poorly, The first sergeant would talk me up to the commander and other recruiters about how it's not fair that I have to go through this BS even though I'm smart and speak English well (reference my ASVAB score and the college I went to).

When I finish 2 mile runs, they would invite me over to join the sergeants to smoke some cigs (I'm a smoker) and shoot the shit. It helped that I always finished way earlier than everyone else.

Truth of the matter is whether we like it or not, us MAVNI's should've all been officers from the get go. In my opinion the Army benefits aren't that special compared to being employed in a good company. Tuition reimbursements, phone, travel, and etc. sure BAH would be nice but it'll all equalize in the end with the low pay of the enlisted ranks.

Getting out from the army after years of service and into the private sector is also another story... Recruiters love to say ohhhhh you'll be a CEO of FEDEX if you join as a 92A lol, most of those recruiters have never set foot in a private company.

In the end, they love being on 'welfare'

Like anywhere else in the workplace, whether you get treated well depends on the leadership in the unit. That's true of both active duty and Reserve units. There are MAVNIs who are happy with their Reserve units, and MAVNIs who are unhappy with their active duty units. Whether the unit command climate is positive (or not) doesn't depend on whether the unit is "active duty" or "Reserve"--it depends on the command climate, and whether the unit has good leadership. If you are facing discrimination, file an IG or EO complaint.

Unless you are a lawyer and an expert in military personnel issues, you should not assure people that there are "no legal repercussions PERIOD." I have run into several MAVNI Reservists who quit the program before getting their US citizenship. What were the repercussions? An uncharacterized, entry level discharge; no citizenship; a permanent Federal record that says they were in the Army Reserve and they asked to be discharged before going to basic training; the need to explain what happened on all future immigration paperwork (yes, every single US Government immigration form asks about military service--go read the I-485 on the USCIS website). It's unlikely that the military will "go after" you for quitting (it's not worth their time) but there are "repercussions" in that you will have to explain yourself for the rest of your natural life. The DACA "fix" that legislators are discussing may also exclude people who asked to be discharged from the military. Even if it does not exclude such people, all of the proposed "fixes" do not provide a green card or citizenship as fast as the MAVNI program, with all its flaws. Finally, if your unit codes your discharge as "on account of alienage" (being foreign), you may be permanently ineligible for US citizenship and you may not be able to get a green card (under current law). They've tricked a few MAVNIs with "voluntary" "alienage" discharges that make the MAVNIs permanently ineligible for immigration benefits. Go read the new I-485 carefully and you will see the potential "legal repercussions" of asking to be discharged.

As an additional note . . . The US Government files "status reports" with the US District Court in the DC "Kirwa" and "Nio" lawsuits. If you quit the MAVNI program, you are listed in the spreadsheets that the Government has filed in those lawsuits. That's a permanent record. If you ever signed a military enlistment contract, even if you quit right away, the US Government always has a permanent record of your enlistment. And if you are a MAVNI, you also have a file at the US Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Defense Central Adjudications Facility (DOD CAF), and in lots of Government databases. DHS also has a list of all MAVNI applicants, since they approved your enlistment.
