They did mention that they're reviewing new cases in deportation proceedings as well.

Republicans will complain like hell; at the end of the day, they now know that a verbal firestorm will mean nothing in the long run.
Obama has once again proved that he might not have balls but that he has a brain. This basically will get him support from the Hispanic community since this is better than any republican in the white house. While pleasing Hispanics, he has the campaign argument that he merely is doing this to focus on criminals. To a certain degree, this will make sense even to the most right moderate conservatives. This will not affect the view from moderates at all I do not think.

Probably not, but it'll piss off conservatives to no end. If Obama needs to realize something, it's that this battle isn't going to be won by appeasement; it's a battle that, if he actually wants to win, he needs to fight tooth and nail, showing that he has the balls to stand up to his opponents. He can leave the appeasement and compromising to Congress.

Yea I'm pretty sure that they're going to treat the current cases and future cases the same way. I'm not sure why people are disappointed. Did you really think that DHS was going to start handing out work permits? Obviously you'd have to meet their requirements to get it. This isn't reform.

I've had a work permit before and that's how I got my SSN. But really a SSN doesn't really do much except for tax purposes. If you're going to try to get a job you're goign to have to defraud employers which is something we should encourage.

Not to mention now he has ammunition against republicans for pushing for spending cuts. "hey guys you pushed for it, this makes sense; we don't want to spend money processing innocents do we?"

Nonsense. That's too reasonable.

So does this change our odds of passing the dream act this year ? Because I see it this way the democrats got a win with this news today , and the GOP doesnt want to be left behind in wins , so they could try to push for E Verify but it won't go anywhere in the senate without some kind of pathway for residency , so this victory today could force the GOP to compromise with the DReam act so they can get their E verify victory
