He can't give out green cards. And, no I doubt they'll start deporting people by the masses. Think about the global impact it would have on the US. Also, think about the resources it would take. More importantly, think about how the millions of citizens would react if they start deporting their family members.

He can't wave a wand a give green cards to people; he can't create a pathway to citizenship, there is no where in the law that can allow him to do that under any interpretation. Only Congress can create one using their law making power.

What he can possibly do is allow the recapturing of unused green cards from past years and give them to those already waiting in line. Allow parole to families of U.S. citizens so they are legally in the us and be able to immediately apply for a green card without having to go back to their countries and have to wait 10 years before they can come back (if ever)

The answer to that would be "pentagon"

Congress would need to approve greencards. Thank you.

Okay, so by calling others "anchor babies" are we helping our cause?
Whether you like it or not, these so called "anchor babies" can vote, and guess what, YOU CANT!
Therefore, democratically speaking, they hold our fate in their hands.
Do you think it's smart to make one of our only allies in this immigration reform fight hate us too?
If we lose the Latino vote (or any other first generation American vote,)who is left from the voting block to support us?
We need allies somewhere.

Hey piano guy, Before you take something that I said here and spin it to an "us vs. them" issue, and make it your stupid signature, read what I actually posted. In this country we need votes from somewhere to get anything passed.

I do see this as a political stunt to see the backlash from Repubs, Americans, and the immigration community, how convenient this information is leaked before Obama's trip to Asia. Now there is no mention if the parents of US citizens are minors....this was released to see what the republicans plan to do to stop this. They will shut the government down....See why would he throw the USCIS a bone in reference to A RAISE..... PLEASE don't get me wrong ...either way somebody will be left out for quite some time....no one will be completely happy until CIR is passed! In respect to him granting work permits to parents of US citizens, you can best believe the new congress will work hard to change the 14th amendment granting automatic birthright citizenship ....which was put in place because of slavery BTW....and Americans are not going to fight this. I see this causing just as much harm as good....if the president was to veto the change to the 14th amendment ... it would make its way to the Supreme Court where as most likely birthright citizenship would be re written to reflect today's interpretation of the law. Hey my brother is an adult with 1 drug charge they he got when he turned 18, which most likely will disqualify my mom ....see all the numbers don't mean shit until those requirements are released.

The president doesn't have a role in the amendment process. Also, Minorities including LGBT would be outraged by the repeal of the fourteenth amendment. And 36 state legislatures would have to ratify it before it it becomes part of the constitution. The most a republican congress can go is writing a common law that bans automatic citizenship to non U.S. citizens which would absolutely be challenged in court

I don't understand all the hate people illegal with kids are getting. What were these people suppose to do? just remain here illegally and not moving forward, not live out their lives? What makes them think they get to arbitrary decide who benefits from this and who doesn't? The president hasnt even rolled out his plan yet and you kids are already crying out who should benefit and who shouldn't?

"BUT BUT Ive been here for 10+ years, paid my taxes, help the community, donate, gone to church, help little old ladies! why do these people with US born kids deserve more than me?"

As some studies have show, 62% of illegal aliens here have been more than 10 years living out their lives, and you guys are surprised they decided to settle in, get married and have kids?... oh wait you guys call it ,"I was smart enough to wear a condom!!!" I burst laughing when I read that post.

Seriously, where does this force diving our own kind coming from? Has the idea of self entitlement copied from Americans seriously has sank that deep into some of you? At the end of the day, no matter what you think of this EO, guess what? you can't do anything about it. All you can do is yap and sputter.

If Obama wants to make help out just parents of USCs or just parents of people with DACA or whoever the heck he wants, he can, and there is nothing any of us can do to change this. What you can do is tell people who could potentially benefit from this to start maybe getting ready in case something does happen.
